Alan enjoys working with people on projects. While at CSCHS he was quite pleased to work with students to maintain and fix bicycles. For six years he volunteered to work on bicycles with people at Shifting Gears in Stevens Point.
He has been remodeling and building houses, it feels like all his life. The best times were while working with new carpenters, he would coach them on tool and saw usage. And of course demonstrate and guide them on the basics of house building.
Both of his children have had to suffer through years of helping him do carpentry projects. His daughter recently did all the contracting to rebuild and add on to her own house. While his son and son’s wife just finished adding a room to their dome house.
He is looking forward to doing some carpentry projects with CSCHS students this and next year.
